The singer, called by the Polish outstanding poetess - Agnieszka Osiecka, a White Angel of Piwnica pod Baranami, was born on the last summer day in Cracow. Anna Szalapak loves to sing! For 18 years linked to the famed Cracovian artistic cabaret Piwnica pod Baranami. She co-operates with the most important Polish artists, poets, composers and musicians e.g. Agnieszka Osiecka, Ewa Lipska, Zygmunt Konieczy,  Zbigniew Preisner, Jan Kanty Pawluskiewicz,  Grzegorz Turnau,  Andrzej Zarycki,  Andrzej Sikorowski. Both in Poland and abroad she appears in her own music performances which became very popular (also on records) : Anna Szalapak from Piwnica pod Baranami (1991), Anna Szalapak in Trójka, i.e. what the World consists of (1999), Vivid water (2000), Hearts on bikes (2004).

She prepared, also in English: Carols with the Cracow Christmas crib in the background. Not everyone knows that Anna Szalapak is an ethnologist. Graduate Jagiellonian University in Cracow, she loves and knows Cracovian traditions, for many years being on charge of the annual Cracow Christmas crib contest, she also supervises Lajkonik- walking round Cracow once a year. The curator of a few dozen post contest exhibitions of the cribs in the  Museum of  the City of Cracow, showed in Poland and abroad also the curator of the first exhibition organized by that Museum on the 750th anniversary of the Location of the City. “Legends and mysteries of Cracow”, book she wrote for this occasion, was Cracovian best-seller in August 2005. Moreover, she is an author of the album devoted to the genre of Christmas cribs- Szopki krakowskie (BOSZ, 2002).

Laureate among other things:

- Competition in the 1st Program of the Polish TV- song “Zaklinanie, czarowanie”

- An award of the 3rd Program of the Polish Radio- Mateusz`97 for the “artistic achievements, originally interpretation of the songs, an unique  style and unforgettable concert in Trójka- Polish Radio”.

- The Golden Laurel for the mastery in literary style songs, granted by The Polish Culture Foundation in 2008.
